Geographical description – The Cascine di Ameno are located in a characteristic rural area overlooking Lake Orta near the Agogna river valley. Cascine di Ameno belong to small rural villages, some nestled along the watercourse, others immersed in the dense woodland of uncontaminated nature.
The Cascine di Ameno area is animated by ancient stone buildings and large, green meadows intended for grazing. To the east of Ameno beyond the Agogna Torrent are the small hamlets of Ameno commonly known as "the Cascine di Ameno": Barozzera, Cassano, Pecorino, Tabarino, Lancino, Milanetto...
In the Cascine di Ameno time seems to have stopped, preserving in its integrity a landscape made up of numerous paths and mule tracks in an excellent state of conservation, ideal for long trekking or mountain bike rides through the uncontaminated woods.

A bit of history - There are several historical figures who have visited the Cascine di Ameno: near the Barozzera farmhouse, adjacent to the oratory of the Santissimo Nome di Maria, there is for example the house where Antonio Rosmini and Alessandro Manzoni loved to spend undisturbed study stays. Opposite the oratory of Sant'Antonio Abate, in the Cassano area, is the house where Giulio Pecora, Franciscan patriarch of Constantinople, was born on 24 June 1727. Finally, on the façade of the oratory of Sant'Eurosia a Sculera, there is a plaque commemorating the generous donation of King Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy for the reconstruction of the hamlet after the terrible fire that had completely destroyed it.

What to see and what to do. A walk among the Cascine di Ameno can be a circular route in the Oltreagogna to discover the wooded mountain and the ancient Cascine di Ameno. Leaving the historic center behind, you pass the hamlets of Milanetto, Tabarino, Mirabello and Cassano, which is a terrace overlooking Ameno, Lake Orta and Monte Rosa. A little further up we stop at the Cappella del Vago. Continuing to walk in the dense woods you arrive at the remains of Alpe Cascinone, where you can admire three centuries-old beech trees, and then at the meadow of Alpe Marandino overlooking the Mottarone, the Grigne and the Swiss Alps. We stop at Sant'Eurosia, which is the small church of Sculera, and return to Ameno passing through Tacchino and once again crossing the Agogna
